How it Happened
UC got the three-ball going early in their final regular season game. Jordan Scully, Paris Stokes, and Ksenija Mitric all hit threes early in the first. WVSU stayed right with the Golden Eagles as they drained some nice shots as well. The game turned defensive, and neither team would score for a couple of minutes. Jordan Scully broke UC's cold streak with a layup making the game 11-10. Charleston tacked on a few more points, but the Yellow Jackets stayed in it. Charleston went to the second quarter only up 18-16.
Golden Eagle Freshman Jordan Scully was red hot to begin the second quarter. She scored eight consecutive points, and UC now had a ten point lead. With three minutes left in the quarter. Neveah Brooks and Noelle Polanco had big shots to end the quarter and Jordan Scully added another three to her total. UC had a big 40-23 lead going into the half.
Bridget Womber scored the first bucket of the second half. After this the Yellow Jackets started their comeback. WVSU's Imani Hickman scored sixteen straight points, single handedly brought the Jackets back in the game. Paris Stokes from Charleston had enough of the run and made three buckets of her own. Off the back of Stokes, Charleston scored the last few points of the quarter, getting the lead back to where it was before. The Golden Eagles went into the Final quarter up 59-42.
Paris stokes stayed hot in the fourth quarter for UC. She had the first few buckets to start the quarter. WVSU continued to show heart and fight this quarter. The Yellow Jackets continued to score, but so did Charleston. Bridget Womber's back-to-back buckets put the game out of reach. The Golden Eagles won their final game of the year by seventeen points. A great way to cap off the regular season with a 75-58.
Jordan Scully and Paris Stokes combined for 43 of Charleston's 75 points to bring home the victory!
