How It Happened
Following a win and a draw in its previous two matches, Charleston looked to continue its momentum against Shawnee State.
Sydney Crowe immediately provided a spark for the Golden Eagles, recording the first shot of the game in the sixth minute before adding another attempt 10 minutes later. In between Crowe's chances, Ines Degli Esposti made her first save of the afternoon to keep the match scoreless. Charleston broke through in the 19th minute when Crowe found the back of the net, with Alyssa LoGuercio providing the assist. Crowe nearly doubled the Golden Eagles' lead four minutes later, but the Shawnee State goalkeeper made the save to keep the Bears within one.
Shawnee State responded in the 29th minute, forcing another save from Degli Esposti. Just one minute later, the Bears found the equalizer after a turnover in the Charleston defensive third allowed a Shawnee State attacker to chip the ball over Degli Esposti and make it 1-1. Charleston nearly regained the lead in the 39th minute when Jamie Bland's shot struck the post, sending the two teams into halftime tied.

The Golden Eagles came out aggressively in the second half, registering the first four shots of the period. Charleston continued to pressure the Shawnee State defense throughout the half, but the Bears remained organized and kept the Golden Eagles from finding the go-ahead goal. Zailee Roberts, Bland, Li-Lou Debaecker, and Abigail Harrison each recorded chances for Charleston, but none could find the back of the net as the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Charleston finished with 25 shots, including eight on goal, while Shawnee State recorded seven shots with three on target. Crowe's goal marked her first of the season.
