Millersville, Pa. -The University of Charleston Golden Eagles travelled to Millersville, PA this past Wednesday for a non-conference matchup against #16 Post University at a neutral venue.
The Basics:
Location: Pucillo Field
Score:Â Charleston 2, Post 0
Records:Â Charleston 2-1-0Â (0-0-0 MEC) Post 1-1-1
How it Happened:
Post came out of the blocks sharp and won a corner in the opening minute, but the Golden Eagles then dominated the rest of the half with the ball and their pressing. Jose Suarez Monaco had the first chance of the game, and arguably should have done better as an indirect free kick just inside the Post penalty area was rolled to him, but he couldn't find the target. That was soon forgotten though, as in the 12th minute Caio Moraes found Suarez Monaco, and a one two with Martin Echarren on the edge of the area set him up perfectly to send a driven effort into the bottom left corner to put the Golden Eagles in front. Samu Montes and Tomi Petrungaro also went close with efforts before half time, but Charleston went into the break just the one goal to the good.
Into the second half and again it was the Golden Eagles who looked the brightest. In the 54th minute, the second ball from a Suarez Monaco header was picked up by Eduardo Rodrigues in the middle of the park, and he turned and slipped through Allan Logrillo. The Frenchman took it round an oncoming Post defender before opening his hips and curling the ball into the far corner to double the Golden Eagles lead.Â
Chances were few and far between for the rest of the 90 minutes, with Martin Echarren coming closest to adding to the scoreline but his effort went wide. The Golden Eagles saw out the game for their first clean sheet of the season, and they move to 2-1 in the 2026 season.
