Jamie Bero returns to the University of Charleston as the Head Cheerleading Coach for her thirteenth season and 29th season overall as a Head Cheerleading Coach. Before moving to Charleston, she was the Head Cheerleading Coach for 16 years at Clarion University (PSAC) where her squad finished 11th out of 26 teams at the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) Collegiate Championships in Division II Co-Ed category (Daytona Beach, FL). They also won the AmeriCheer Classic (Columbus, OH) and TomCat Challenge (Thiel College). Bero also served seven years as the Clarion University Dance Team Advisor and finished 9th out of 26 teams at the National Dance Alliance (NDA) Championships Division II (Daytona Beach, FL). She served one year as the Head Women’s Tennis Coach and five years as the Assistant Cross-Country and Track Team Coach at Clarion University.
Bero is employed full time as the Director of Student & Alumni Affairs in the University of Charleston School of Pharmacy. In this capacity, she serves as a co-advisor to the Pharmacy Student Governance Association (PSGA) and specializes in leadership and event/ceremony planning for the School of Pharmacy.
Bero is the College Chapter Director (CCD) for Delta Zeta Sorority’s chapter at Marshall University and was named Marshall University’s Greek Advisor of the Year in 2010-11, 2018, and 2022. She is the advisor for the Kappa Delta Rho Fraternity Colony at the University of Charleston.
Bero is a firefighter at Tyler Mountain Volunteer Fire Department (Cross Lanes, WV). She is certified at the Technician level in Auto Extrication, Rope Rescue, and Basic Vehicle Rescue. She is the VFIS West Virginia Emergency Vehicle Driver Training-Instructor (EVDT-I) Instructor where she teaches firefighters to teach firefighters to drive fire apparatus.
Before moving to West Virginia, Bero toured with country artist Clint Black on his Spend My Time Tour as the Production Assistant-Wardrobe and spent a month in the Middle East on an Armed Forces Entertainment Tour as the Sound Technician for The Redding Brothers (Scott Depot, WV). She is a co-author of the book Purinton Pottery with Values.
Bero has a Master of Arts in Education Policy and Leadership, a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Nutrition, and an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts all from The Ohio State University. She has doctoral coursework at The Pennsylvania State University. She is pursuing a second master’s degree in Security and Disaster Management from the University of Alaska-Fairbanks.
Bero looks forward to returning to her alma mater every fall to march with the TBDBITL Alumni Marching Band. She is a single dog mom for her five-year-old yellow Labrador retrievers: Scarlet and Gray.
