Tim McCutchen will be entering his first season as an assistant coach for the Charleston Golden Eagles. He will serve as the team’s Special Teams Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator for the upcoming 2024 season.

PLAYING HIGHLIGHTS
McCutchen was previously a four-time All-MEC placekicker for the Golden Eagles in his five starting years on the team, and remains the career record-holder for the most points scored in program history with 357 total points.

Following his final season, he led the nation in most career field goals as an active player with a total of 48 made and was fourth in most career points scored in Division II. In 2023, he would contribute to Charleston’s first ever Mountain East Conference Championship title as well as the program’s first playoff win in the NCAA Super Region One Playoffs.

In 2021, the Hurricane, WV native would earn First Team All-MEC honors in Charleston’s 8-2 season, where he would go 13 of 21 on field goals and 42 of 46 on extra point tries. In the first game of the year against Fairmont State, McCutchen would break the school record for the longest field goal with a 51-yarder, claiming the second longest in Mountain East Conference history. A week later, he would break his own record and the MEC record for the longest field goal with a 53-yard field goal in a thrilling contest against Frostburg State on the road. It would also be the longest field goal made in all of Division II for the 2021 season.

In 2019, McCutchen would start in nine games for the Golden Eagles going 12 of 16 on field goals throughout the season, with his biggest game of the year coming in Charleston’s victory over FCS Valparaiso on September 28th where he would go 4 of 4 on field goals in their 19-13 triumph.

Simultaneously over the last two years, McCutchen served as a graduate assistant in the Athletic Communications department under the Director of Sports Information, Louisa Disi. In this role, McCutchen served as the media contact for football, women’s soccer, women’s basketball, women’s lacrosse, as well as men’s & women’s tennis. He would also provide play-by-play broadcasting for select Charleston sporting events when needed in addition to operating NCAA Genius and StatCrew for multiple sports.

After completing his Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Communications, McCutchen pursues his Master’s of Business Administration with a focus in management.

McCutchen also served as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee president for the University of Charleston during the 2021-2022 seasons.
