Benjamin Martinez

Ben Martinez is entering his second season as an assistant for the University of Charleston Golden Eagles and serves as the program’s Goalkeeper Coach. During the 2019 season the Golden Eagles finished with a record of 22-2-1, a MEC Regular Season Championship, a MEC Tournament Championship, an NCAA Division II Super Region I Championship, and the 2019 NCAA Division II National Championship. 

Before starting college in the United States, Ben was a member of Montpellier H.S.C, playing there from 2002 to 2015. After finishing there, Ben came to the U.S. to play college soccer at the University of Rio Grande for his freshman and sophomore year before transferring to Marshall University for his junior and senior year. While at Rio Grande, Ben and the team won the 2015 NAIA National Championship, with Ben earning the Most Valuable Player, Most Valuable Defensive Player, All-America 1st Team, and All-Team National Tournament.

Martinez received his bachelor's degree in Finance from Marshall University in 2018 and is pursing his MBA at the University of Charleston.Â
