Chris Gribben will be entering his third season as an Assistant Coach at the University of Charleston in Fall 2024, after spending 4 years as a player for the Men’s Soccer program.
In Chris’s second season as a coach with UC, the Golden Eagles earned an overall record of 19-2, winning the MEC Regular Season and Conference Tournament Championships. The team reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament before being eliminated with just their fourth loss in two seasons. The Golden Eagles finished #1 in NCAA DII for Total Goals Scored, Goals Per Game, and Goal Differential. In addition, the program earned 14 MEC awards, 6 Atlantic Regional awards, and 5 All-American awards, as well as being named Atlantic Region Coaching Staff of the Year.
In the Fall 2022 season, Chris’s first as a UC Assistant Coach, the Golden Eagles achieved a record of 20-2. Along the way, the team reclaimed their MEC Regular Season Championship as well as becoming MEC Tournament Champions for the fifth consecutive season. The Golden Eagles reached the Elite 8 of the NCAA Tournament.
In the Fall 2021 season, Chris was an Assistant Coach at the University of Rio Grande. During this season, Rio won both the River States Conference Regular Season and Tournament championships, while only conceding one goal in the regular season. Rio went on to achieve a record of 17-3-1, reaching the second game of the NAIA National Tournament, where they narrowly lost to the reigning champions.
During his time as a player at UC, Chris was part of a team that won 2 National Championships and 2 Regional Championships among other honors. Chris graduated with his bachelor’s degree in Sport Business in Spring 2021 and then completed his MBA with a Business Analytics concentration in Spring 2023.
