Travis Brent is entering his fourth season as an assistant for the University of Charleston Golden Eagles and serves as the program’s Recruiting Coordinator. During the 2021-2022 season, the Golden Eagles finished with a record of 19-2-3, a MEC Conference Tournament Championship, an NCAA Division II Super Region I Championship, and participated in the 2021 NCAA Division II National Final, where they finished as Runners-up. During the 2020-2021 COVID-19 season, the Golden Eagles finished with a record of 10-0-0, a MEC Regular Season Championship, and a MEC Tournament Championship. During the 2019-2020 season, the Golden Eagles finished with a record of 22-2-1, a MEC Regular Season Championship, a MEC Tournament Championship, an NCAA Division II Super Region I Championship, and the 2019 NCAA Division II National Championship.
A Virginia Beach, VA native, Brent spent two years playing professionally in the Netherlands with clubs Heracles Almelo (2014-2015) and Almere City FC (2015-2016). Brent then returned to the United States to play one year of professional soccer for USL Championship club Harrisburg City Islanders (2017-2018).
Brent spent four years playing collegiate soccer at Marshall University, appearing in 65 matches for the Thundering Herd, earning 62 starts. Brent was named to the Conference USA All-Freshmen Team in 2010 and Conference USA Third Team in 2013. During the 2012 season, Brent helped the Thundering Herd to nine defensive shutouts and the third-best team shutout percentage in the nation. Brent received his bachelor’s degree in Economics in 2014. In the Spring of 2020, Brent received his Master’s of Science in Strategic Leadership from the University of Charleston.
Before coming to Charleston, Brent served as the assistant coach for the Francis Marion University soccer program in Florence, South Carolina. While playing professionally and coaching at the collegiate level, Brent coached club soccer internationally and in the United States, as well as in the United Soccer League. Brent has coached club soccer for Football SEH in the Netherlands, South-Central Pennsylvania Soccer Academy, Florence Soccer Association, and West Virginia Football Club in the United States. During the Spring 2022 club soccer season, Brent led the U-15 WVFC 07 Girls team to a USYS Eastern Region Presidents Cup Championship and an appearance in the USYS Presidents Cup National Championship where they finished as Runners-up. During the summer 2021 United Soccer League Two (USL2) season, Brent served as the West Virginia United Assistant Coach when the team qualified for the first round of the League Two play-offs. Summer 2021 was the club’s best overall season since 2014, in which Brent was a member and earned All-Eastern Region accolades.
Brent is a qualified United States Soccer Federation C Licensed Coach.
