Jorge Perez begins his first season as an Assistant Coach for the University of Charleston men’s tennis program after spending three seasons as a student-athlete with the Golden Eagles.
A native of Albacete, Spain, Jorge began his collegiate career at North Carolina A&T before transferring to the University of Charleston, where he quickly established himself as one of the top players in NCAA Division II tennis.
During his time at UC, Jorge helped lead the Golden Eagles to one of the most successful stretches in program history, including an appearance in the NCAA Division II Elite Eight and multiple Mountain East Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championships.
Individually, Jorge reached career-high rankings of No. 6 in the ITA Division II Singles Rankings and No. 7 in the ITA Division II Doubles Rankings. He was named Mountain East Conference Player of the Year in 2024 and 2025, while also earning All-MEC First Team honors in both seasons.
Jorge was a dominant player within the ITA Atlantic Region, winning the ITA Atlantic Region Singles Championship in 2022, 2023, and 2024, as well as the ITA Atlantic Region Doubles Championship in 2023 and 2024.
Following his playing career, Jorge remained with the program as the team’s Student Manager during the 2025-26 season, assisting with the day-to-day operations of the program while beginning his master’s degree. He now enters his first season as an Assistant Coach, continuing to support the development of the Golden Eagles both on and off the court.
