Sam Clarke enters his second season with the Golden Eagles Men's Tennis team after joining the team in August 2020. Prior to his time in Charleston, Clarke played Division II tennis for the University of Illinois Springfield, in the GLVC conference.

In his first year coaching the Golden Eagles, Clarke helped guide the program to its' first ever individual regional title, with Ben Lakeman and Joao Tayar winning the Atlantic region doubles title. Clarke took the pair to the programs first ever ITA National Cup appearance, as well as achieving the programs first All-Americans in 65 years. 

Clarke played in the number one spot for UIS all four years, setting the program wins record with 127 career wins. In his senior year he was named the UIS Male Athlete of the Year, GLVC Scholar Athlete of the Year, and Google Cloud Academic All American. He was named to the GLVC first team in his final two season.

Clarke is currently pursuing his Master's of Business Administration from the University of Charleston and is set to graduate in December 2020.
