Johnson comes off an eventful first year as Head Coach for the Golden Eagles. Managing to finish above .500 the Golden Eagles finished the season 16-14 with two 2nd Team All-Conference players. Coach Johnson Looks to build going into year two.
Johnson spent the previous two seasons at Presbyterian College where he helped lead the team to a program first ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2024. After securing an automatic bid with the Big South Tournament Championship title, the Blue Hose advanced to March Madness where they fell to the eventual National Champion. In Johnson’s debut year with Presbyterian in the 2022-2023 season, he focused primarily on coaching the post players, notably guiding Bryanna Brady, who earned second-team all-conference honors. Under Johnson's guidance, Brady became one of only four PC DI players to surpass 400 points in a season.
During Johnsons previous tenure at Charleston (2020-2022), the program clinched a pair of conference championships, a regular-season title, and an NCAA Atlantic Regional championship. Notably, the team made history with the first-ever elite eight appearance for a Mountain East Conference women's team. Johnson's contributions earned him recognition as a 21' World Exposure D2 Assistant COY Finalist, and he was also named in the WBCA 30 under 30 list for the 2020-2021 season. Before joining Charleston, Johnson served as the Director of Player Development for the Green Bay Men's Basketball program during the 2019-20 season. In this role, he oversaw player management, program operations, and played a key role in recruitment efforts. Additionally, Johnson coordinated team travel and provided advisement to student-athletes.
 As a player, Johnson’s collegiate journey began at New Jersey Institute of Technology before transferring to Gannon and eventually USU Eastern. He concluded his collegiate basketball career at Florida Southern, where he helped lead the team to a remarkable 2015 NCAA Division II National Championship victory. Johnson's senior season at Florida Southern was marked by accolades, including selection to the Sunshine State Conference All-Tournament Team and the NCAA All-South Regional Team. Averaging 6.2 PPG and leading the team in rebounding with 6.5 RPG, Johnson demonstrated his prowess on the court. His leadership was evident as he started in all 37 games, leading the team in field goal percentage (50.3%) and securing the victory in the Division II National Championship game against Indiana (Pa.).
The Waldorf, Maryland native holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Florida Southern College and is a graduate of Thomas Stone High School. He is the proud father of his dog, Spud, and has three sisters: Talisa, Nakia, and Niya.
