Alicia Fanni

Entering her second season with the women’s soccer program, Alicia came to the University of Charleston after attending graduate school at Soccer Management Institute located in Rome, Italy. While at SMI, Alicia took courses that focused on the management of sports science and nutrition, European soccer methodology, sports communication, coaching-leadership and performance, sports psychology, and sports and legal management. She was taught by some of the most influential leaders in women’s soccer in Italy.

The women’s soccer program finished the 2021 season with a 15-6 overall record and earned the #4 regional ranking for the NCAA tournament. Working with Coach Kirk and the keepers, the UC netminders lead the MEC in many statistical categories. The starting keeper in 2021, Kaylee Hensley, was a 1st team All-MEC recipient as well as receiving United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic honors.

During her time in Italy, Alicia competed for the Seria D team A.S.D. Trastevere Calcio, now competing in Seria C. She netted 18 goals and 6 assists in the season, was the top goal scorer on the team, and the top 3rd in the league. Alicia also spent time playing for Trastevere’s Calcio 5 (5 vs. 5) professional team.

Alicia completed her undergraduate degree at SUNY New Paltz in New Paltz, NY. She received a Bachelor’s in Business Marketing in 2018. Alicia competed for New Paltz her Junior and Senior year. She held the co-captain title her senior year.

Alicia is from Long Island, New York. She is currently working towards her Masters of Business Administration in Data Analytics here at University of Charleston.
