Kelly Whittaker comes to Charleston after a season with a professional club in Sweden. Prior to her stint with Alta IF, Whittaker continued her playing career with various WPSL teams while coaching for club organizations such as BUSA and the Chesapeake Charge.
Kelly attended Florida Institute of Technology where she received a bachelor’s in science for mechanical engineering. Whittaker was a four-year letter winner for Florida Tech, starting as an outside midfielder. Her sophomore year she was selected to the NCAA Division II Final Four All-Tournament Team after placing in the final four tournament, losing in the semifinals to Grand Valley. Kelly's junior year she was named Second Team All-SSC and First Team All-SSC her senior year.
Kelly grew up in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where she attended Southern Leigh High School. She began playing at the age of four and ended her high school career with their first ever high school conference championship win. She also played with the FC Delco Fury team, that was ranked number one in the nation for four years.
