University of Charleston Athletics

Sam Bethell is starting his first season as a coach with the Women’s Soccer Team. With experience as an assistant coach for the Men’s Soccer Team in 2021, Sam also played on the Men’s team from 2017-2020 and the 2022 Fall season.  As a student, Sam has two NCAA II national championships, two regional championships, four mountain east conference championships, and four MEC regular season championships.

The Coventry, England native attended the Strachan Football Foundation college. He was able to win a national championship in 2015 as well as earning coaching badges along the way.

After this, Bethell decided to pursue a career as a Student Athlete at UC pursuing a Business administration and sport business degree, graduating in 2021 with a 3.8 GPA. He is also now enrolled in a Master's program at UC studying Strategic Leadership. 

Alongside soccer Sam is passionate about Strength and conditioning and will be helping the program in that department as well as his coaching role.
