Vaughn Griffiths

Vaughn came to the University of Charleston from Jamaica in 2014 to continue his studies in the school of Business and Leadership. Before the University of Charleston, he attended the Mico University Teachers College in Jamaica where he completed his first undergraduate degree in Physical Education. At the University of Charleston, he completed a second undergraduate degree in Business Administration, A Master’s degree in Business Administration, and is currently working on completing his doctorate in Executive Leadership.  

Vaughn played semi-professional soccer for Rodwood Football Club for more than 5 years, in addition to that, he also played 4 years of college soccer for Mico University College, where he was a starting player for three of the four years. While at the University of Charleston, he became a walk-on athlete for the University of Charleston Men’s Soccer team as a junior varsity player but was able to work his way onto the varsity team. He played 2015-2017 and made one NCAA final four appearances with the Golden Eagles under the leadership of the head coach. Chris Grassie and assistant coach Daniel Stratford.  

 After his time playing, Vaughn continued to stay involved with the sport by taking on a new role as a youth soccer coach, volunteering to coach local recreational and travel soccer clubs in the Charleston area. Combined, Vaughn has over 20 years of playing experience at different levels and over 4 years of coaching experience. His most recent coaching move saw him taking on a new role as an assistant coach for the Golden Eagles Women’s Soccer program.  

Throughout his academic and athletic tenure, Vaughn, was awarded the National Commerical Bank (NCB) sportsman of the year award in his final year of high school soccer in Jamaica. He was inducted into the National College Athlete Honor Society, which recognizes student athletes for their academic performance at Charleston. He graduated with honors in the Master’s program and has been an adjunct/part-time professor for the School of Business and Leadership at the University of Charleston. Â
