Coach Foote continued his historic run by leading both the men's and women's teams to dominant seasons, sweeping the MEC regular season, MEC tournament, and Atlantic Region championships.
The men’s team reached the NCAA Sweet 16, falling to UIndy 4–1 in Orlando, Florida. The Golden Eagles reached a program-best #4 national ranking during the season and finished the year ranked #20 in the country. Several players qualified for the ITA National Cup in the fall. Foote was named both MEC Coach of the Year and Atlantic Region Coach of the Year.
The women’s team also advanced to the Sweet 16, falling to Flagler 4–0 in Orlando. They captured both the MEC regular season and tournament titles, along with the Atlantic Region crown. Foote was named MEC Coach of the Year for the third consecutive season for his leadership.During the 2023-2024 season, Coach Foote led the University of Charleston men's tennis team to unprecedented success, making history by reaching the Elite 8 at the national tournament for the first time in school and Atlantic Region history. Under his leadership, the team achieved its highest national ranking ever, finishing the year at #13.
Coach Foote also guided the women's tennis team to remarkable achievements, including qualifying for the national tournament and winning the Atlantic Region tournament. Both the men's and women's teams secured top rankings in the Atlantic Region, with the men's team finishing the season ranked #1 for the second consecutive year.
Coach Foote's team had a great Fall, leading individual’s players qualifying for the ITA National Cup in both singles and doubles.Coach Foote was recognized with numerous awards, including Mountain East Coach of the Year and Atlantic Region Coach of the Year.
Coach Foote's leadership and dedication have solidified the University of Charleston's tennis program as a formidable force, setting new standards and achieving historic milestones throughout the 2023-2024 season.
Foote led the women’s program to a 21-2 record in the 2022-2023 season. Foote led the team to a regular season conference championship and a conference tournament title. Foote was also named the MEC Coach of the Year for the second time in two seasons. Foote then went on to lead the team to an Atlantic Region championship which qualified his team for a place at nationals. Foote was named Atlantic Coach of the Year. The Golden Eagles fell short in the Sweet 16 against Cameron University 4-2. During the year Foote led his team to a national high ranking of #14 in the nation, later finishing the season ranked #23 in the nation.
Foote started his first season as the head coach of the men’s tennis program. Foote led the team to a 16-6 record. Foote led the team to a regular season conference title. The Golden Eagles fell short in the final of the conference tournament where they lost 4-3 to Fairmont State. The Golden Eagles rallied back to win the Atlantic Regional tournament where they defeated rivals Bluefield State 4-0 to book a place at nationals for the second year in a row.
Both teams didn’t just excel on the court but also in the classroom. Women’s tennis finished the year with a 3.665 team GPA. The men’s team finished the season with a 3.347 team GPA
In the 2021-2022 season, Foote led the team to a 19-9 record. Foote led the team to a share of the regular season conference championship and then winning the conference tournament over their rivals WVSU. Foote was able to claim his first regular season championship, and his second conference tournament title. Foote was also name MEC Coach of the Year. The Golden Eagles fell just short of a trip to nationals by losing in the round of 32. During the season Coach Foote led the team to a national ranking high of #21 in the nation.
Foote will be starting his 1tst season as the head coach of the Men’s and tennis teams. Foote will be taking over from the longtime head coach Matt Santen.
In the 2020-2021 season, Foote led the team to a 15-4 record, which included just one loss during the conference regular season. The Golden Eagles bounced back from losing the regular season conference title, by winning the conference tournament over their rivals, WVSU. Foote Claimed his first MEC title as a coach.
During the season, Foote led the team to #1 in the region going into the NCAA regional tournament, with a national team ranking of #27 in the nation. This is the highest the women’s program has been since moving to the Mountain East Conference. The Golden
Eagles reached the sweet 16 where they fell just short to IUP, losing the match 4-2. The Golden Eagles ended the year ranked #29 in the nation. During the end of year rankings Foote led his #1 tennis singles player Prinkle Singh to #31 in the nation. Foote also led his #1 doubles team Singh/Lif to #22 in the nation.
Foote’s team didn’t just excel on the court this year by reaching consecutive sweet 16 finishes. Foote also led the team to a team GPA of 3.63.
Foote ended the year with an MEC conference tournament title, along with being Voted the Atlantic Region Coach of the Year.
During second season at the helm of the Golden Eagles Women’s Tennis program after completing his first season during the 2019-20 academic year. In his first season, Foote led the team to a 9-3 record, which included just one loss during the fall season. During the spring, Foote led the Golden Eagles to a 6-2 record with prominent wins over Mercyhurst (2/22) and division I Sacred Heart (3/2). During the fall, Foote accompanied the doubles pair of Katie Swann and Haarini Balakrishnan to the ITA cup in Rome, Georgia. The season came to an abrupt ending on March 12th following the NCAA ruling on the COVID-19 pandemic.
Before taking the reigns from longtime head coach Shari Reed, Foote served as the assistant for the program from 2017-2019. During the 2019 season, Foote was named the ITA Atlantic Region Assistant Coach of the year after helping the team to a 24-6 record which included a trip to NCAA championships in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
Prior to his role as assistant coach, Foote played four years on the Golden Eagles Men’s Tennis squad under head coach Matt Santen. Foote played number one singles and doubles for three years, during that time he notched three first team All-MEC awards, as well as MEC Men’s tennis player of the year in 2016. Foote was ranked No. 44 nationally for singles his senior year. He left the Men’s Tennis program with a singles record of 46-15, and a doubles record of 40-20.
Foote earned his Masters of Business Administration from Charleston in December 2018 and his Bachelor’s degree in Sport Business in May 2017. Foote is currently pursuing a masters of science in Strategic Leadership from the University of Charleston.
