Nicholas Halabicky

Nick Halabicky is entering his third season as an assistant coach for the Charleston track and Field program working with the throwers.

In year 2 at Charleston, Halabicky found even more success with the throws group. Five school records fell including Women’s Weight Throw (Abby McKinney – 18.45m), Men’s Weight Throw (Frankie Winter – 18.14m), Women’s Discus (Brooke Burns – 47.35m), Women’s Hammer Throw (Brooke Burns – 58.50m) and Men’s Hammer Throw (Frankie Winter – 58.77m). Burns (Outdoor) and McKinney (Indoor) both qualified for the NCAA National Championships while Aiden Corbett qualified for the USATF U20 Track and Field Championships finishing 8th.  Brooke Burns also was awarded the 2025 MEC Conference Outdoor Field Athlete of the Meet after scoring 26 points at the event. In addition, UC throwers earned 5 All Atlantic Region Honors, 6 Individual MEC Conference Championships and 19 All MEC Honors.   
In his first season at UC (2023-2024), Halabicky coached a Second Team All American in the Shot Put (Kellen Tropeck) as well as two new school records in the Men’s Weight Throw (Kellen Tropeck – 17.67m) and Men’s Javelin (Manuel Campana – 60.20m). This was accompanied by a 2024 MEC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Meet Award (Kellen Tropeck), 3 All Atlantic Region Honors, 8 Individual MEC Conference Champions and 11 All MEC Honors.

Prior to Charleston, Halabicky assisted in coaching the throws at the University of Minnesota. During his time at Minnesota, throwers earned 6 First Team Division I All-American honors including a National Runner Up in the Women’s Weight Throw and Men’s Hammer. Throwers also won 3 individual Big Ten Titles as well as a Big Ten Team Women’s Indoor Championship in 2022. Along with this success came school records in the Women’s Discus, Men’s Hammer and Men’s Javelin.   

Before Minnesota, Halabicky coached for 4 years at Saginaw Valley State University and also functioned as the programs Recruiting Coordinator. While at SVSU the throwers broke 4 school records (Women’s Weight, Women’s Hammer and Men’s Indoor & Outdoor Shot) while also earning 5 Division II First Team All-American honors. In this time, the throwers earned 9 individual All-Region honors and 17 individual First Team All-GLIAC honors. Halabicky also assisted in coaching the multi events at SVSU where athletes won 4 separate Division II National Titles in the Pentathlon, Heptathlon and Decathlon.  

Halabicky is a native of Davison, MI where he first developed a passion for the sport at Davison High School and then went on to attend SVSU. He graduated from SVSU in 2017 with a Bachelors of Science in Biology after being a member of the track and field team for 5 years. Â
