CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The University of Charleston volleyball team will be holding its third annual Dig for the Cure contest on Monday, Nov. 1 at 7 PM. The Golden Eagles will don pink warm-ups for their match against Ohio Valley in an effort to help raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer.
UC began the Dig for a Cure event in 2008 as a way to support the Susan G. Komen For the Cure foundation. According to the organization's website, over 207,000 new incidences of breast cancer in women and nearly 2,000 incidents in men will be diagnosed in the United States this year alone. .
All proceeds from the contest go to support the fight against cancer, last season the Golden Eagles volleyball event raised $1,700 for the cause. There will also be prizes given away after each game of the match and free Dig for the Cure t-shirts (while supplies last).
Anyone interested in making contributions are asked to do so through the Susan G. Komen website in the name of the University of Charleston volleyball team.
