BLUEFIELD, W.Va. - Bluefield State netted eight three-point shots to run out to a 16-point first half advantage that the University of Charleston women's basketball team was unable to overcome, Wednesday night.
Both teams hit 39 percent of their shots in the opening half, but the Lady Blues went 8-for-12 from long range in pulling away to a 45-29 lead at break. UC cooled the BSU offense after the break holding them to just two three-pointers in the second half, but 24 turnovers in the contest hindered the Golden Eagle comeback.
Charleston (0-3) outscored Bluefield State 38-33 in the second half, but fell short against the Lady Blues who had four players in double-figures scoring.
Freshman
Nichole Perry (Poseyville, IN) led the way for the University of Charleston with 15 points just ahead of
Lauren Davis (Cincinnati, OH) who booked 14 points and six steals.
Erika Rousculp (Worthington, OH) pulled down 14 rebounds to go along with eight points in 34 minutes of action.
The Golden Eagles return to the court against Pitt-Johnstown at 4:00 pm on Saturday, Nov. 19.
