Lindsey Kentner

A short interview with former University of Charleston women's basketball standout Lindsey Kenter.

Name: Lindsey Kentner

Sport: Basketball

Coach: Sherry Winn

What are you doing now?

I am currently attending optometry school at Ohio State.

What was your most memorable moment from your athletic experience?

Our home game against Glenville at the end of my senior year. I broke my hand that game, and we also came back from a 20-point deficit to win, which allowed us to win conference that year.

How has your athletic experience influenced your life?

Athletics have basically shaped who I am as a person. So many mental aspects of basketball, such as confidence and remaining positive, can be used in everyday life. I’ve also learned a lot of leadership skills through basketball.

What was the toughest part about being a student-athlete?

The time commitment. You have to be extremely organized and disciplined in order to get everything done, you have to be able to study anywhere, and you definitely have to remember to keep time for your friends and family.

Outside of athletics, what is the best thing about the institution you graduated from?

The small size of the school. I loved knowing everyone, and I made so many lifelong friends along the way. It was great to build relationships with not only your peers but also with the faculty and staff at UC.

What is the best advice you would give current WVIAC student-athletes?

Enjoy every minute of your experience, because once it’s over you can never get it back!
