Ross, Perry Lead UC to Win Over Notre Dame

Box Score SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio - LeAnne Ross and Nichole Perry combined for 41 points in a 76-65 victory over Notre Dame College Falcons Monday evening at the Keller Center.

Ross led all scorers with 22 points on 8-for-14 shooting while Perry chipped in 19 points, hitting on four of her eight three-point attempts. Chyress Lockhart scored in double figures again for the Golden Eagles with 14 points. She has posted double digits in 12 of the 13 games this season.

Molly Ritz posted a double-double for the Falcons in the loss, going for 14 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.

Charleston, siting in fifth place in the Mountain East, stumbled out of the gates against the fourth place Falcons and trailed by as many as 10, 23-13, early on in the contest. The Golden Eagles clawed their way back into the, outscoring Notre Dame 23 to 11 over the final 11 minutes of the half to lead the hosts 36-34 heading into the break. Ross and Perry paced the UC attack for the first 20 minutes, each scoring 13 first half points.

Out the break Charleston quickly extended their narrow halftime lead to nine points, 46-37, just three minutes into the second half. That lead would all but evaporate as Notre Dame pulled within two at about the 13 minute mark, trailing 49-47. The game remained nip and tuck over the next seven minutes but UC never relinquished the lead, holding just a one point cushion, 61-60, with 5:30 showing on the Keller Center clock.

The next three minutes saw the Golden Eagles go on a 9-0 run and push the one point lead out to 10 with a little over two minutes remaining. UC built their biggest lead of the game over the final minutes of play to leave South Euclid with a 76-65 victory.

The win gets Charleston over .500 in the MEC at 5-4 and improves their overall record to 9-4. Notre Dame goes to 8-4 overall and 5-3 in the Mountain East.

UC gets back in action Saturday afternoon at 2:00pm to host UVa. Wise.
