The #2 ranked University of Charleston Men's Soccer team defeated West Virginia Wesleyan 2-0 in an exciting Mountain East Conference match up Saturday night at Schoenbaum Stadium.Coming into the match, Wesleyan has been the only blemish so far on the Golden Eagles near perfect season after 1-1 draw on Oct. 5th. With a bit of revenge on the table, UC came out with high intensity in which the Bobcats tried to match. UC had the better of chances leading shots 8-5 however, no one would find the back of the net.
The second half was a lift for Charleston as they outshot the Bobcats 12-1 and found the back of the net just 36 seconds in on a phenomenal 25-yard strike from Lewis Osborne (Wakefield, England). The second goal came in the 82nd minute as Freshmen Will Roberts (Denbigh, Wales) also beat Wesleyan's goalkeeper on a good strike. Fabian Veit (Dielheim, Germany) earned the shutout victory with two saves on the night.
The Golden Eagles moved to 15-0-1 and 10-0-1 in the MEC with just one regular season match left. On Wednesday they will travel to Concord for a 4pm kick off.
