Box Score CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The University of Charleston women's basketball team earned a 66-56 win over the visiting Notre Dame College Falcons, on Saturday afternoon at the Eddie King Gymnasium, in Mountain East Conference play.
The Golden Eagles started fast to claim a 16-7 lead at the 11:51 mark in the first half. The Falcons, however would fight back and two Lauren Langenderfer free-throws gave NDC a 31-30 lead with 1:17 remaining in the half. NDC would lead 33-32 at half-time. LeAnne Ross led the Golden Eagles in the scoring column with 12 points on 3-for-4 from the floor including two three-pointers.
UC started the second half as they did the first and led by eight, 41-33, with 15:25 remaining in the game. The Falcons responded with a 10-2 run to tie the game 43-43 with 11:33 remaining. UC would then put together a 10-2 run of their own to lead 53-45 at the 08:31 mark. The Falcons would pull to within one, 53-52, with 4:43 remaining, but the University of Charleston finished the stronger of the two teams to claim a 66-56 win.
With the loss the Falcons drop to 13-11 overall and 10-10 in the MEC. The University of Charleston improve to 17-7 overall and 13-7 in the MEC.
The Golden Eagles were led LeAnne Ross' 16 points followed by Nichole Perry who chipped in 13.
Charleston will return to action on Wednesday Feb. 26 at Eddie King Gymnasium at 5.30 p.m.
