Belmont, N.C. - The UC Men's Volleyball Team traveled to Belmont, N.C. to face the Belmont Abbey Crusaders just hours after their season opener to King. While the Golden Eagles played much more consistent then the night before, they still ended up losing in 3, even though they had leads at several critical moments in each match. The scores were 25 – 21, 27 – 25 and 25 – 21.Â
After the match Coach Crane had this to say about the team's effort. "It was great to see the guys react the way they did after the previous night's loss. They really stepped it up, and while everyone in the volleyball world isn't expecting much from this team, because we are a first year program, I see great potential and think we are going to surprise just about every team we play".Â
Leading the way for the Golden Eagles was sophomore outside hitter
Brian Cranston with 11 kills and 2 aces, freshman setter
Anthony Rivera with 27 assists, freshman middle hitter
Conner Brandland with 2.5 blocks and freshman libero
Carl Shircel-Lenling with 8 digs.Â
The Golden Eagles take the floor again Sunday at 2pm at the University of Charleston to face NCAA Division I program NJIT.
