Institute, W.Va. - The University of Charleston Men's Basketball team beat West Virginia State in a Mountain East Conference match-up at the Walker Convocation Center on Thursday Night.  This is UC's fifth straight win and surpasses the previous season high of four straight.

The Golden Eagles survived a career-high 34 points from State's Markee Mazyck with a balanced scoring attack for a 82-70 victory.

UC fired up a season-high 32 three-point attempts, connecting on 14 of them.  However, that didn't faze the Yellow Jackets, as with just over six minutes remaining it was a three-point ball game. Mazyck collected his fourth foul and had to sit for what would be only a few seconds, but Charleston capitalized and used a 10-0 run to create distance, and WVSU wasn't able to rebound.

On the night, Chris Evans (Stamford, CT) and Vincent Dillard (Sanford, FL) each had 18 points while Dillard was 4-of-5 from behind the arch and added five rebounds.  In the paint,  Jevonte Hughes (Kalamazoo, MI) added 15 points and Octavius Green (Gainesville, FL ) added 13.

UC moves to 13-4, 8-3 MEC on the season. The Golden Eagles face a showdown with Fairmont State University at 5 p.m. Saturday at Eddie King Gym.  ?
