Wheeling, W.Va. - The University of Charleston Women's Soccer Team traveled to Wheeling Jesuit University on Wednesday for a MEC conference game. The contest between the Golden Eagles and the Cardinals would end in a tie, but not without plenty of action for both teams.
The first half the Golden Eagles outshot the Cardinals ten to three. UC got even more opportunities in the second half again outshooting the Cardinals fourteen to four. A great header by Senior Alice Broadbent (Tamworth, England) seemed to be the decider in the game, but Wheeling's goalkeeper Alice Thompson was able to get a touch on it to keep the Cardinals in a 0-0 game. UC's goalkeeper Zoe Zyta (Listowel, Ontario) would end the game with 4 saves and another shutout.
The University of Charleston returns to Trace Fork for a home game against MEC opponent Shepherd University on Saturday, October 3rd at 1:00 pm. Â
