Charleston, W.Va. - The University of Charleston Women's Soccer Team battled the Shepherd University Rams on a rain-soaked and chilly afternoon at Trace Fork fields, ending the contest with a 1-0 win. UC would dominate the majority of possession throughout the match and claim their sixth clean sheet for the year. The Golden Eagles held the advantage in shots with 17. UC's defense held the Rams to just two shots on goal for the day.
Late in the second half, UC sophomore Alice Broadbent (Tamworth, England) collected the ball in the middle of the park and slotted it through to Freshman Hannah Myers (Saint Albans, W.Va.), who was streaking by on the right flank. Myers drove to the end line and played a simple and effective ball to the top of the six. Senior Courtney Underwood (Hurricane, W.Va.) hit a one time finish and the Golden Eagles claimed the lone goal of the match in the 76th minute.
UC's keeper, Zoe Zyta (Listowel, Ontario), claimed two saves on the day. UC will travel to Fairmont State for a 7:30pm match on Tuesday.
