Charleston, W.Va. - On a clear and 70 degree afternoon at the fields of Trace Fork, the Golden Eagles defeated the visiting Blue Knights of Urbana University. Senior Isabella Jaffin (Nescopeck, PA) would begin the day's scoring at the 7:11 mark. Senior defender Rachel McCormick (Mississauga, Ontario) whipped in a quality ball from the left side as Jaffin beat the Urbana defender to the spot and slipped in the first goal of the match. In the 43rd minute, UC would score again in a very similar fashion. This time, senior Lauren Haven (Nassau, Bahamas) found freshman Hannah Myers (Saint Albans, W.Va.) for the second goal leading into halftime.
In the second half, the Golden Eagles scored the final goal of the match at the 61 minute mark. Sophomore Ivey Nucilli (Fairmont, WV) beat a few defenders at the top of the 18 after receiving a quality ball from sophomore Alice Broadbent (Tamworth, England). Nucilli was credited for the assist as she found freshman Adele Siegel (Kolsaas, Norway) trailing on the weak side deep in the six.
The final result on the day was 3-0 in favor of the Golden Eagles. UC held the edge in shots 17/12. Sophomore Zoe Zyta (Listowel, Ontario) recorded her seventh clean sheet as the Golden Eagles improved to 8-2-3 on the year. UC returns to action on Sunday against the visiting Hilltoppers of West Liberty at 1pm.
