CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Charleston held off a fourth quarter rally from Fairmont State to defeat the Falcons, 38-31, on Saturday afternoon at UC Stadium.
The Golden Eagles (6-1, 6-1) played without starting quarterback Jeremy Johnson, but Mason Olszewski stepped in and was 14-of-23 for 263 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. Marvin Elam paced UC on the ground with 14 carries for 106 yards and two scores. Johnathan Pruden had 10 solo tackles and James King added six stops with two TFLs, including a sack.
Cooper Hibbs played well in a loss completing 27-of-44 for 374 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions for FSU (3-4, 3-4). FSU's wideout tandem of Fabian Guerra and LaChristopher Lee each went over 100 yards with 109 and 166, respectively.
Marcus Porter had nine tackles and two interceptions and Quincy Redmon was in on six tackles and recorded 3.5 for a loss.
