INSTITUTE, W.Va. – Charleston's season opener didn't go the way they hoped, suffering an 82-66 loss in the first game of the PSAC/MEC Challenge at the Walker Convocation Center on the campus of the West Virginia State University Friday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles were led by Chyress Lockhart's return to the court after missing all of the 2014-15. Lockhart poured in 25 points in the losing effort, 18 coming in the second half as she became more aggressive finding her way to the basket. Monet Saunders added 20 points, six rebounds, and three blocks to be the only other Charleston player in double digits.

The Fighting Scots had five players in double figures, paced by Aignee' Freeland's double-double, 23 points and 10 rebounds. Maggie Moore also posted a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds for Edinboro.   Lauren Hippo was the Fighting Scots best player from the perimeter, scoring 18 points while connecting on five of her 12 three-point attempts. Hippo's backcourt partner Katie Fischer also posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 assists.
