CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Charleston took a disappointing loss in double overtime to Virginia State University at the Charleston Civic Center on Tuesday evening, dropping their season record to 1-2 on the year.

The Trojans' Elijah Moore scored seven of his 24 points in the final overtime period that carried VSU to the 84-77 win over UC in the Golden Eagles home debut.Â

Charleston led by 11 midway through the first half before allowing the Trojans to claw back into the contest which was played close over the final 37 minutes of the two overtime game. UC was led by Jevonte Hughes' double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds in the losing effort. Jaylen Hinton and Justin Coleman each chipped in 14 points to be the team's second leading scorers on the evening.

UC rescheduled Saturday's game with UVa.-Wise to be played at Wise instead of Charleston due to conflicting schedules with UC hosting the NCAA Football and Men's Soccer Playoffs.
