Fain's Perfect Game Helps Lead UC Over Hilltoppers

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -  Women's Softball was back in action on a cold Saturday afternoon as they hosted West Liberty University in a MEC double-header. The Golden Eagles took both ends of the double-header in five innings winning 11-0 and 15-5.

UC was led by Courtney Fain whose perfect game paced game one.  Charleston pounded 10 hits and took advantage of numerous Hilltopper mistakes to win 11-0 in five innings.  Fain's perfect five innings saw her fan 11 batters as she moved to 9-3 on the season.  Freshman Bethany Williams drove in four runs on a two-for-four game at the plate including a double and scoring two runs.  Kelly Browning continued her hot streak of hitting going two-for-three with two runs batted in.

As for game two, Freshman Jessie Rowe took the mound and threw four innings surrendering three runs in the 15-5 victory. She is now 3-1 on the season.  UC once again put together 10 hits and used six West Liberty errors to score multiple runs in the first three innings.  Andrea Hayes was two-for-three with two double and two runs batted in.

UC is now 19-4 on the season and 6-2 in Mountain East Conference play.  The Golden Eagles are back in action tomorrow as they host Wheeling Jesuit University with first pitch slated for 1pm.
