Golden Eagles Take a Pair from Bluefield State

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Charleston Baseball earned a midweek doubleheader sweep of Bluefield State Monday afternoon at Triana Field by the scores of 8-5 and 11-6 in a non-conference matchup.

UC freshman pitcher Kaleb Kinder worked six innings to pick up his second win of the season in game one of the series.  Kinder gave up five runs on seven Blue hits while striking out two in his fourth start as a Golden Eagle.  Tyler Ocker drove in three in the three-run victory and teammate Tristan Fields plated two Golden Eagles to lead the offensive attack.

Charleston took a commanding 6-0 lead to give UC pitcher David Webb all of the run support he needed to get his second win of 2015 after the 11-6 victory to complete the sweep.  Webb threw five strong innings, allowing three runs on six hits and striking out five Bluefield batters.  Ocker continued his solid day at the plate, going 3-for-3 and drove in one to give him four RBI's on the day.  Josh Easterling and Logan Valentine each added a pair of RBI's in the five-run win.

Charleston (10-16, 7-15 MEC) travels to Glenville this weekend to play the Pioneers in a four-game Mountain East Conference series.
