Charleston, W.Va. - The Golden Eagles hosted the Falcons of Notre Dame on an overcast and rainy afternoon at Trace Fork fields. Neither team was able to generate many scoring opportunities on the day. UC held a slight edge in shots 7/5 and both teams had seven corners. Sophomore Zoe Zyta (Listowel, Ontario) secured another shutout as the Golden Eagles would win the day with a 1-0 victory.
In the 80th minute, the ball was slotted through to senior Isabella Jaffin (Nescopeck, PA), who beat a defender and drew the Falcons net minder, Louisa Rygh, off of her line. Jaffin would then play the ball to her left as senior Lauren Haven (Nassau, Bahamas) trailed the play. Haven placed the ball in the net and the Golden Eagles would continue their sound defensive play to earn a quality in-conference victory.
UC improved their overall record to 5-1-2 and are scheduled to travel to Wheeling on Wednesday to play the Cardinals at 5pm.
