CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The University of Charleston fell at home Monday evening at the Charleston Civic Center to the visiting Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals, 62-71, to open the 2016 calendar year.
 
Wheeling took advantage of 16 UC turnovers to outscore the Golden Eagles 16-4 in points off turnovers which proved to be the difference in a closely played Mountain East Conference game.  Charleston tied the game at 51-51 on a Cam Dozier three-pointer midway through the second half but saw the Cardinals use a 10-2 run over the next six minutes to walk away from Charleston with the nine-point win.
 
Justin Coleman posted a double-double for the Golden Eagles in the loss, scoring 12 and grabbing 11 rebounds.  Dozier led UC in points with 13 and Jevonte Hughes chipped in 11 points and six boards off of the Charleston bench.
 
Charleston will host the #1 ranked and unbeaten West Liberty University Hilltoppers on Wednesday evening at 7:30 at the Charleston Civic Center.
