Shepherdstown, W.Va. - The University of Charleston Women's Soccer team traveled to Shepherdstown to play the Rams of Shepherd University on an overcast and misty Saturday afternoon. The Rams played a well-organized and disciplined defense, but UC managed 35 shots on the day to the Rams' 5.
After finishing both halves scoreless, the Golden Eagles managed to break through in the 104th minute when sophomore Marieke Kramer (Megchelen, Netherlands) attacked the end line and played a ball across the six to junior Ivey Nucilli (Fairmont, WV). Nucilli finished and registered the game's lone goal.
UC's keeper, Zoe Zyta (Listowel, Ontario) picked up the shutout without making a save. Shepherd's keepers, Kelsey Rhoderick and Christ LaBella, combined for 11 saves. UC improves to 7-1-2 overall and is on top of the Mountain East with a 7-0-1 record. The Rams dropped to 4-4-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the MEC.
