WHEELING, W.Va. -- The Golden Eagles traveled to Wheeling to play the Cardinals in their final regular season game of the 2016 season. Wheeling recognized their five seniors on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in late October.

UC registered the game first goal in the 14
th minute when junior, Adele Siegel served a ball across to fellow teammate and the MEC's leading goal scorer, Marieke Kramer. Kramer slotted away the finish. In the 33
rd minute, a loose ball fell to the foot of a Wheeling player, Emily Hartley. Hartley scored in the upper 90 from outside of the 18 to level the score going into the half. Neither team could secure the game winner in regulation.

In the 92
nd minute, UC was awarded a direct kick from 35 yards out in the center of the park. UC's captain and center back, Dominique Dosky moved up to take the free kick. Dosky would score in the upper right corner and secure the victory for the Golden Eagles. UC outshot Wheeling 16/5 on the day. Junior goalkeeper, Zoe Zyta conceded a goal and had zero saves on the day. Wheeling keeper, Hannah Thompson let two by and registered ten saves.

With today's victory, Charleston improved its overall record to 13-3-2. Thirteen wins sets a program record as the Golden Eagles begin post-season play on Wednesday. As the #2 seed, Charleston will host #3 WV Wesleyan in the first semi-final of the 2016 MEC Women's Soccer tournament. The game is scheduled to kickoff at 7 p.m. at Trace Fork Field.
