CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Charleston's fourth quarter rally against the visiting University of Pitt Johnstown Lady Cats at the CCHS Athletic Complex came up short Wednesday evening, falling to 50-47 to drop to 4-5 on the season.

The Golden Eagles trailed by 10, 40-30, heading into the final 10 minutes but used a furious comeback to take their first lead of the game, 45-44, with under two minutes to play.  The teams traded baskets before UPJ fouled Darian Apperson with :11 to play with the Golden Eagles trailing by one, 47-48.  Apperson wasn't able to connect on either of her two free throw attempts, giving the Lady Cats possession after a unique series of events. Charleston was forced to foul, resulting in a pair of UPJ free throws to extend the lead to three, 50-47.  UC had one final attempt but Jordyn Peck's 30-footer hit the front iron and bounced away.

The Golden Eagles were led by Jordyn Peck's 21 points, the only double-figure scorer for UC.  Charleston struggled from the field, connecting on just 31% of their field-goal attempts.  They also had a rough evening from the stripe, only making eight of their freebies from the line.
