FAIRMONT, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles dropped their third straight game Saturday afternoon, falling to the No. 7 ranked Fairmont State University Falcons by 11, 65-76, at Joe Retton Arena.

Jevonte Hughes had a monster game in the loss, scoring 26 points and pulling down 14 rebounds. Aleks Kesic added a double-double tallying 11 points and 11 boards. Thomas Wimbush led the way for the 23-3 Falcons with his 24-point, 9 rebound effort.

UC trailed by 5, 28-33, at the break but midway through the second half was on top of the nationally ranked Falcons by three, 47-44, with 10:38 remaining. It was a see-saw game until the two minute mark, as neither team could more than a two-possession lead but back-to-back three's by Fairmont's Wimbush put the Falcons on top for good leading by nine, 72-63, with just over a minute to play. The Falcons made enough of their free-throws as UC couldn't find the range to make a comeback and left Fairmont with their third consecutive loss.

Charleston returns home to host Concord Thursday evening before closing out the regular season Saturday afternoon against the Yellow Jackets. Both games will be played at the Charleston Civic Center.
