HARTSVILLE, SC. - The University of Charleston softball team added three wins on the season in the Coker College Spring softball tournament this past weekend. UC, which moves to 4-2 on the season, rebounded from a 2-1 defeat to round off three wins in row by defeating Coker College 6-4, PSAC Regional opponent Bloomsburg 5-2, and King University 6-0. Â
The Golden Eagles were led in the circle by the duo of returning sophomore
Jessie Rowe (Lavalette, WV) and junior transfer
Alli Burdette (Charleston, WV). Rowe picked up a win and two saves in 14 innings pitched while Burdette picked up two wins in her 12 innings of work. Offensively the charge was led by junior transfer
Laura Ashlock (Kansas City, Mo.), who went 6-for-12 with four runs batted in, two doubles, and two home runs. Seniors
Kelly Browning (Fairfield, Ohio) and
Katelyn Hamilton (Parkersburg, WV) and junior
Rachelle Toppings (Logan, WV) each added four hits on the weekend while driving in a combined eight runners. Fellow senior
Allison Evans (Chapmanville, WV) launched her first career home run over the center field fence in the 5-2 victory over Bloomsburg.Â
UC is back in action Thursday, March 3, against Ohio Valley University with first pitch slated for 3 p.m. The double-header against Salem International has been rescheduled for March 22. Â
