WHEELING, W.Va. - Alli Burdette and Jessie Rowe combined to only allow two runs and seven hits in a double-header sweep of Wheeling Jesuit University Friday night. The Golden Eagles scored 11 runs and added 15 hits in the 5-1 and 6-1 victories.
The two wins move Charleston to 4-0 in Mountain East Conference play and 15-4 overall on the season.
At the plate for the UC, Kelly Browning was 3-for-8 on the day, hitting her third home run of the season in the first inning of game one and adding a two-RBI double in the seventh inning of game two. In game two, a five-run seventh inning for Charleston broke a 1-1 tie. Rachelle Toppings was 3-for-4, and Alayna Carlson added two hits.
UC will host Salem International University at 3 and 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 22. Saturday's scheduled MEC double-header against West Liberty University has been postponed with a make-up date to be determined.
