CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The University of Charleston resumed a previously scheduled doubleheader with King University at Triana Field on Monday afternoon, splitting the series with the Tornado by winning game two, 5-1, after dropping the the first game 8-3.

Charleston's Andy Hoyer took the loss in game one, working seven and a third innings while allowing six runs on 10 King hits. Trailing 2-0, the Golden Eagles plated three runs in the sixth inning on RBI's by Zach Gunter and Jeff Somuk to take a 3-2 lead into the seventh inning. King reclaimed the lead on a Preston Douglas two-run homerun in the seventh before scoring four insurance runs in the eighth inning to earn an 8-3 win over Charleston to open the day.

Game two saw the Golden Eagles earn their first home win of the season, a 5-1 victory over the Tornado. Senior pitcher Anthony Brunetti worked all seven innings for Charleston in the win, allowing just one run on five King hits, striking out eight. He helped his own cause at the plate, going 2-for-3 and driving in two runs. Matthew Houser got his first start of the season at first base and responded with two RBI's in Charleston's three-run fifth inning that gave UC a much needed 5-1 win, stopping a four-game winless streak.

The Golden Eagles host West Liberty University Saturday, March 12 in a doubleheader with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
