CLERMONT, FL. -
Alli Burdette scattered five hits while striking out four in the 2-1 victory over Walsh University on Tuesday in Clermont. Burdette, who moved to 5-0 on the season, only gave up one run in the third inning after Walsh led the inning off with a triple and scored on an infield error by the Golden Eagles.
At the plate,
Kelly Browning hit her second game-tying home run of the season to even the score in the fourth inning.
Allison Evans, who extended her hitting streak to six games earlier in the game, laid down a perfectly executed suicide squeeze that scored
Natalie Beck, who had singled to start the inning, and make the score 2-1. UC threated again in the top of the seventh but Walsh's Olivia Pifer got out of the bases-loaded jam without any more damage. On the day, Pifer struck out four and gave up five hits while only walking one batter.
The Golden Eagles have won seven straight games dating back to Feb. 26.
Charleston returns to the field in Clermont on Wednesday, March 9, against Cedarville at 9 a.m., followed by No. 24 West Chester at 11 a.m.
