ATHENS, W.Va. – Charleston earned a split after Friday's doubleheader with Concord University was complete, dropping game one 5-3 before rebounding for a 11-6 victory in game two at CU's Anderson Field.

GAME 1
Charleston's Brice Arrington led off the game with his first collegiate home run then knocked in Jeremy Tejada in the second to build a 2-0 lead after UC's first innings at the plate. Concord scored five consecutive runs from the 2
nd to the 6
th inning on Charleston starter Kaleb Kinder to take a 5-2 lead into the 7
th.Â

UC loaded the bases in their final at-bat but could only manage to bring one Golden Eagle across as the Mountain Lions ruined Coach Wright's return to Athens with a 5-3 win to open the 4-game series.

GAME 2
The Golden Eagle offense found its groove in game two, pounding out 13 hits to score 11 runs in an 11-6 road win to even the series at one win apiece. Zach Gunter led the way for UC, going 3-for-5 and driving in four RBI's. Tristan Fields and Tyler Ocker each drove in two to add to the Golden Eagle offense in the five-run win.

Anthony Brunetti worked all nine innings for the complete-game victory, allowing six runs (four earned) on 11 hits while striking out 4. Brunetti helped his own cause at the plate, knocking in two and scoring three runs.Â

Charleston and Concord return to action Saturday afternoon to conclude the 4-game series with first pitch of the doubleheader scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
