Athens, W.Va. - The Golden Eagles traveled to Athens to play the Mountain Lions of Concord Thursday afternoon. Both teams entered the match tied for second place, one point behind conference leader WV Wesleyan. The Golden Eagles dominated possession in both halves, but they struggled to find the back of the net. Charleston outshot Concord 10/1 in the first half and 7/1 in the second half, with the single game-deciding goal coming in the beginning of the second half.
Sophomore Ida Garberg (Gjoevik, Norway) scored the game winner at the 47:20 mark on a direct kick left of center 20 yards out. The win improved UC's overall record to 4-1-2 overall and 4-0-1 in the MEC. Concord is presently 3-3-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the MEC.
Charleston returns to action on Sunday as they travel to Notre Dame for a 1pm kickoff.
