KUTZTOWN, Pa. - The University of Charleston Golden Eagles traveled to Kutztown to take on the Golden Bears for a non-conference, in-region game. After a delayed start to kickoff due to field repair needs, both teams warmed up again briefly and took the pitch on a beautiful September Saturday afternoon. UC started the first half strong and created a few quality scoring opportunities but could not convert.
Â
The Golden Bears scored the game's first goal at the 33:10 mark when Cara Grffith collected the ball inside the 18, beat a UC defender and tucked the ball in the upper right corner from 10 yards out. Maddie Mohr scored the winning goal at the 34:35 mark. Mohr ran onto a negative ball played to UC's center backs from the midfield. Mohr dribbled around UC's keeper, Zoe Zyta and put the Golden Bears up 2-0 at the half.Â
Â
UC would find the back of the net at the 56:20 mark when sophomore Marieke Kramer served a ball from the right flank toward an approaching junior midfielder, Selma Fallsen. From outside of the 18, Fallsen crushed a full volley into the Golden Bears goal past their net minder Imani Taylor. Kutztown did a quality job of managing the game late and the game would end with Kutztown defeating the University of Charleston 2-1.

Kutztown held the shot advantage for the match 14/8. The Golden Eagles have a busy home schedule this week with three home MEC matches scheduled on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday at Trace Fork fields in Charleston, W.Va.
