Twenty-Six UC Miscues Lead to Loss at Glenville

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles committed 26 turnovers in a 13-point, 73-86, loss at Glenville State on Monday evening at the Waco Center.

The Pioneers were able to turn Charleston's miscues into 30 points, proving to be the deciding factor in UC's loss.  Jordyn Peck continues to shine for the Golden Eagles, scoring 33 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the floor and connecting on all 12 of her attempts from the line.  Anna Hayton was the only other double –figure scorer for UC with 11 points and pulled down eight rebounds.

Glenville was paced by Paris McLeod, leading all scorers with 39 points and draining seven attempts from behind the arc.  She also added seven steals for the high-pressure Pioneer defense.

The Golden Eagles again were right with the 14-2 Pioneers through 20 minutes of play, heading into the half deadlocked at 33-33 and at one point held a seven-point lead.  It was a 30-point third quarter from Glenville that put the game out of reach for UC, who was outscored by 17 in the 10-minute period.  Charleston trimmed the deficit to nine, 63-72, after a three pointer by Madison Jones with a little under three minutes to play but couldn't get any closer as the Pioneers earned the home win, 86-73.

Charleston returns to the court Thursday evening to host West Virginia State University at the H. Bernard Wehrle Sr. Athletic Arena. Tip is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
