CHARLESTON, WV— The University of Charleston Golden Eagles (16-0-2, 11-0-2 MEC) advanced to the Mountain East Conference finals after outlasting the Falcons of Notre Dame (11-6-1, 8-4-1) 5-4 in PKs following 110 minutes of play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The two teams went into the half with the score tied 0-0. The Golden Eagles were unable to get the offense going, only seeing two shots on goal for the first half.
-The Golden Eagles continued to attack the Falcons in the second half, but only getting five shots off in the effort. Paulo Pita recorded 2 saves in regulation to send the game into overtime.
-After two overtime periods the score remained tied 0-0. The Golden Eagles held the 11-6 shot advantage over the Falcons, but were unable to convert in the last minutes of play.
-After 110 minutes of soccer the Golden Eagles found themselves in a pentaly shootout to determine the winner, and who would advance to the conference title game on Sunday.
- Notre Dame won the toss and elected to shoot first. The first two shooters from each team converted to keep the score tied, but Charleston goal keeper made his first save off a shot by Guilherme Gloria to give the Golden Eagles a one shot advantage. The next shooters from each team were successful, each making their shot, UC maintained the one shot lead. Senior forward Will Roberts stepped up to end the game for the Golden Eagles, but was unable to send it past the keeper.
-Lewis Norvock took the following shot for the Falcons, but the ball was met by the hand of Pita who tallied his next big save of the match.
-With the game on the line, Gabriel Cabral sent the ball past the Notre Dame keeper to give Charleston the 5-4 advantage.
