CHARLESTON, WV. – The University of Charleston Men's Basketball team (3-2) outlasted the Rams of Shepherd University (1-4) on Monday night.

How It Happened
-Charleston jumped out to an early lead holding a 22-12 lead midway through the first half.
-With just over six minutes to play Shepherd closed the gap to just one point. Charleston maintained the lead to head into the break leading 32-31.
-Shepherd opened up the second half by taking a one point lead, but Charleston took the 34-33 lead on the next possession.
-The scored teetered through the rest of the second half with neither team leading by more than six points. With 30 seconds to play Charleston held an 81-75 lead, but after two possessions the Rams brought the score within one.
-With five seconds to play Austin Howard was put on the free-throw line to seal the Golden Eagles win, but after going 1-for-1 on the line the Golden Eagles only held a two-point lead.
-Charleston would go on to win 82-80 to improve to 3-2 on the season.
Charleston Individual Leaders
-Keir Anderson led the Golden Eagles with 20 points while Austin Howard tallied 16.
Shepherd Individual Leaders
-Forward AJ Car led the Rams with 20 points.
A Deeper Look
-Charleston once again led on the offensive boards notching 16 second chance points to the Rams seven.
-The Golden Eagles also outscored the Rams in the paint 40-26.
-Charleston's bench outscored their counterparts 23-15.
