CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Charleston pulled out a four-point, 69-65, victory over Shepherd University Monday evening in the Wehrle Innovation Center to move to 2-0 in Mountain East play.

How it Happened
Charleston trailed by four, 19-15, to the visiting Rams but a big second quarter by the Golden Eagles where they outscored Shepherd 22-10 to take an eight-point lead into the locker room at the half. Octavia Loll fueled UC, scoring 11 of her game-high 18 points in the first 20 minutes of action. The Golden Eagle bench also had a role in Charleston carrying a lead into the break, outscoring the Ram bench 16-6, paced by Abby Watson's first-half eight points.
Shepherd exited the locker room inspired and managed to tie the game at 48-48 heading in the final 10 minutes of play. UC attacked the rim in the final quarter, going to the line 15 times and converting on 10 attempts in a game that saw 15 ties and 10 lead changes. Freshman Brooklyn Pannell sealed the Golden Eagle win knocking down four straight from the stripe in the final 13 seconds as UC held on for the 69-65 over the previously unbeaten Rams.
